This week, Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) is at the forefront of our country’s news coverage and conversations. Today we share a more personal viewpoint from Border Action Network’s Policy Director Mike Wilson.
HALF A LOAF
Border Action Network salutes President Barack Obama and the U.S. Senate's bipartisan “Gang of Eight” as they carry forward the hope, if not the promise, of Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR). We recognize that neither plan provides the full measure of what we are asking for in CIR and that we are being offered “half a loaf”. Border Action Network will never be satisfied with “half a loaf”, but for the moment will accept it in the name of the undocumented millions who hunger for justice. We know that for them, “half a loaf” is manna compared to the paltry crumbs that have fallen from the table.
For the father who is hidden in the shadows of invisibility, walk with dignity into the light of Hope.
For the mother who lives in fear of family separation, pray with humility and with Hope.
For the children whose dreams are incomplete, your dreams will be made whole.
-Mike
