Eva Baisan is a a senior at Marlboro College in Vermont, where she will graduate with a degree in Spanish and Anthropology next May. Four years ago, Eva volunteered on the U.S./Mexico border documenting Border Patrol abuses and putting out water on migrant trails - an experience which inspired her to return to Tucson and work to create positive change for immigrants in the U.S. She has recently returned from Oaxaca, Mexico, where she has been doing research for her senior thesis work on migration between Mexico and the States.
Katya Lancero is honored to intern at Border Action Network as it parallels her own career and life goals to work to uphold the human rights of all people and battle discrimination. Katya will be attending Suffolk University Law School in the fall and plans to use the law degree as a tool to carry out this mission. Katya took a semester abroad from Boston College and studied in Puebla, Mexico. She fell in love with the culture; one of her favorite memories in Puebla was being woken up at 2:00 AM by Mariachis in the living room of her host family's house. When she is not at Border Action Network, she is singing, dancing or catching live music.
