We were sad to say goodbye to Ana and Katie a couple weeks ago, but with departure comes change. We are very excited about Hilary Tone, our new Communications Coordinator. She bring exceptional experience, skills and energy to the organization.

Hilary Tone, Communications Coordinator

Originally from the Los Angeles area, Hilary has long been active in the Hispanic community.  While studying issues such as bilingual education and immigration policy in school, Hilary worked with immigrant students, families and seniors in the San Jose and Los Angeles areas as a teacher, tutor and volunteer at local community centers.  As a result, she became quite invested in the plight of immigrants to the US, and wrote her Master’s thesis on how to improve US-Mexico border policy.  She holds a Bachelor’s of Communication and Spanish Studies from Santa Clara University, and a Master’s of Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California.  As Border Action’s new Communications Coordinator, Hilary brings a variety of skills to the table, including experience in freelance journalism, television production, and local political and human rights campaigns in Southern California.  She spent last summer interning in the US Department of State Press Office, which gave her a unique insight into how our government operates. Despite her pale skin, blonde hair and blue eyes, Hilary is also a fluent Spanish speaker, and is anxious to improve her skills while working for this organization.  She is thrilled to join the Border Action family, and will work tirelessly to support the cause so near and dear to her heart.
