The Walk for Human Rights was one of three such events hosted by Border Action Network in southern Arizona in honor of International Human Rights Day. The others were held in Nogales and Tucson.

The 1 1⁄2-mile walk began at 3 p.m. at Douglas High School located at 1550 E. 15th St., continued to A Avenue, then 10th Street, then Pan American Avenue, and ended near the McDonald’s at Fifth Street and Pan American.

Police temporarily blocked some streets in order to accommodate the marchers.

A total of nearly 50 people took part in the hour-long walk, includng about 25 members of Instituto Technologico de Agua Prieta, who marched or performed music. Some representatives of Border Action Network and other groups carried signs or a banner.
